7 years

Today is our 7 year anniversary. I can't believe it's already been 7 years.
Yesterday we celebrated. In the morning, Mike and I went on a bike ride just the two of us. I think it was a lot easier for Mike since he wasn't pulling around an extra 60 lbs.

Last night we went and got chinese food since it's not something the girls usually eat much of. We went to Al Palace in Costa Mesa.

These eggrolls are amazing. They aren't healthy AT ALL but they were so yummy.

Even without eating lunch, we hardly made a dent in our food.
That was after we were done.

The main thing we wanted to do was go to the Capital Grille. We went to one in Chicago a few years ago and they have this amazing Chocolate Hazelnut cake!
So first we burned off some time walking around South Coast Plaza and looking at stores we could never step foot in, then we went over to the restaurant.

And here it is. Not a great picture of us but the cake was delicious.

Today I made Mike a CD with songs of 2005. It's kind of funny to look back at all the songs that came out that year. And we are thinking of watching the classic movie "The Seven Year Itch" tonight.

Happy 7 years to my love, Mike!

Singing

Some singing by Emily.

Talking

A lot of people ask me if Allyson talks. She does and is learning more words everyday. She even puts two words together sometimes. She gets really quiet and shy sometimes so she is pretty much a mute in front of some people. In the last week or so, Allyson has been waking up before 6am. I don't know if it's teething or that it gets light earlier, but we get a good hour or so with just me and her.

Happy Birthday, Emily!

Yesterday was Emily's 4th birthday! She was so excited!
We took this picture though today.
Her doctor appointment went well.
She is 35 1/2 lbs (50%) and 38 inches tall (50%)--this is a big deal. She has never been in this percentage. She has always been pretty small. But we've noticed she has been growing a lot lately. She has thinned out and gotten taller. Our little girl is growing up!

Yesterday morning was pretty routine. We made strawberry banana mini muffins to share with her class in the morning. We went to that and then went to Chick-Fil-A to play with some friends from the class.
Then we came home and sat around while Ally took her nap. We had homemade chicken nuggets, french fries and smoothies for dinner. (Emily's favorite)
Then we went and got some cupcakes from a place nearby. We tried a bite of each of them and they were delicious. (And much easier than making a cake or cupcakes)

Then we came home and let her open her presents. She got a Squinkie set, among a few other things, which is her new favorite thing. They are pretty cheap for a whole set. And today after her doctor appointment, we went to Target to let her spend her $5 that she got from my grandma. She got some more squinkies and paid herself. I could tell she felt so grown up.

On Sunday night, I put streamers by her door and balloons in her room for when she woke up on Monday.

Pictures

What we've been up to in pictures.

Growing-Emily seems to be growing up before our eyes.

Swimming (they're holding hands, it's so cute!)

Riding bikes

We found this pretty trail through Yorba Linda
 A neighborhood off the trail
I am in LOVE with this house. It's not on the trail but nearby and I think it is so cute!

We stopped for slurpies before turning around to go back home.

Changes

On Saturday we finally had a whole day that had nothing planned. So we took advantage and I decided to tackle the huge project that is rotating out too small clothes with clothes that fit. We got organized and packed away a bunch of old clothes, which meant cleaning the garage. Then I got a little bug and suggested we break down the crib and put the toddler bed in Allyson's room. It was a whim but Allyson's room is pretty small so every little bit of extra room helps. It was an exhausting day but we got a TON done and it feels great now. Allyson actually likes to play in her room now, whereas it used to be mostly for sleeping and changing.
The first night was pretty bad. Allyson didn't want to sleep anywhere for a good 4 hours in the middle of the night. The second night got better and now she sleeps great through the night and just takes a little bit of extra attention going down, except for Mike for some reason. He's the magic touch.

She loves having a big girl bed and loves to say "own bed" whenever Emily suggests taking anyone and everyone up to her room to see it. Emily is just as excited for her.

We also packed away another box in the garage and the pink one there is half empty and saving room for Allyson's 2Ts when she is done with them.

Easter

I know, I've been slacking. This year for Easter we did a first for us and decorated easter eggs. The girls loved it! They came out so pretty!

The girls showing us their pretty Easter dresses before church.
