I don't know if this is true for all kids but I have learned that Emily really likes anything sensory. Whether it be water, beans, sand, she loves to play in it and it will keep her entertained for a while. I have been slightly obsessed with looking at Pinterest lately. I found this great idea and went for it.
Clear hair gel (99 cent store), gallon sized ziplock back, food coloring and glitter (I forgot to include that)

That looks great! I am going to have to try that. Have you tried a bowl with your expired lentils/beans/rice or whatever you have? you just hide small objects in it and they sort through to find them. So fun!
